Since coming to the city from a rough neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Devon has failed at one gay relationship and lost a second lover to AIDS. Settling into the dynamic West Village art scene, he's trying to figure out how to live and love in the midst of a gay pandemic. Racism and street violence pose further complications. After failing at yet a third relationship, Devon is drawn to the mysterious Charles Bedford. In some ways, though, the elusive Charles represents the very life he had hoped to escape by coming to New York.
