However, Fifes location between the burgeoning cities of Tacoma and Seattle and proximity to Commencement Bay presented challenges of eminent domain, which ultimately brought about the transformation of the fabric of the land. This history documents the transformation of Fife from the establishment of the Puyallup Indian Reservation through that of the pioneer farmers who worked the rich, volcanic soil while developing a close-knit community of families and friends.
