Text mining is the technique that helps users find useful information from a large amount of digital text data. It is therefore crucial that a good text mining model should retrieve the information that users require with relevant efficiency.Most text mining methods use the keyword-based approaches, whereas others choose the phrase technique to construct a text representation for a set of documents. It is believed that the phrase-based approaches should perform better than the keyword-based ones as it is considered that more information is carried by a phrase than by a single term. Based on this hypothesis, Lewis conducted several experiments using phrasal indexing language on a text categorization task. Ironically, the results showed that the phrase-based indexing language was not superior to the word-based one. Although phrases carry less ambiguous and more succinct meanings than Individual words.
