When they are sad, Blinky feels sad too. So he comes up with a brilliant idea that will help bring beautiful colors into the sky for the humans getting ready to celebrate the independence of the United States of America. With the help of some fruits and vegetables that allow them to change the colors of their lights, the fireflies provide their human friends with a Fourth of July celebration to remember. In this children's story, during a year without fireworks, a special firefly and his friends work together to save the town's Fourth of July celebration.
