Margot discovers Mia and Cody's past life during a seizure as she has an out-of-body experience in which her soul unites with her long-dead grandmother. Reluctantly, Margot agrees to a new life of carrying messages from the dead to the living.

Using her gift, Margot gains a new freedom to explore a different side of her school. She finds herself in some dangerous situations, but Cody is always watching out for her, and he even finds a way to return to her as she thrives in her new life.
